Favorite Food Friday: DRINKING. CHOCOLATE.

Welcome to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the doleful Disney Day by Day!

Okay, this is not a booth but I KNEW when we got to the 2012 Food and Wine festival that I MUST check out the old MetLife pavilion.  I used to love the rides they had there (and the low fat cheesecake!).  And of COURSE I had to check out the special Disney Chase cardmembers lounge!  And of COURSE I had to pass by the Ghiradelli section to get there.  And of COURSE I had to try some of their drinking chocolate.....

Inexplicably, they would not fill up a thermos of this for me.  And as of the date of this post, I do not believe they offer kegs of this stuff.  Because if they did I would be signing up for delivery IMMEDIATELY.

Favorite Food Friday! Food and Wine 2012 Morocco Booth!

Welcome to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the deafening Disney Day by Day!

This is a big picture post today.  We all know the Morocco booth needs some help. The offerings were dry and uninspired.  I mean, Middle Eastern food is SO GOOD.  Do you guys know that?  Does DISNEY know that?  This booth shamefully fails to properly represent that cuisine.  And why, because it would otherwise be "too scary" for picky eaters?  I mean, please.

I really don't get why Disney still caters to the lowest common denominator of palates for a FOOD FESTIVAL.  Yes, Americans are not adventurous eaters but I'm not going to a food festival to eat something I could get at home are you?  [rant over]

Anyways, on with the many photos:

Kefta Pocket (Ground Seasoned Beef in a [dry] Pita Pocket):

Harissa Chicken Roll (not on the menu but happened to be available at the booth)

Merguez Sausage (Beef and [dry] Lamb Sausage with Grilled Peppers and Onions)

Baklava [zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz oh sorry fell asleep for a minute there]

Wordless Wednesday: New Fantasyland at Night

Welcome to this week's Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop hosted by the felonious Focused on the Magic!  I'm continuing my recap of my mother/sister October 2012 trip.  You can find earlier posts here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here!

I actually kind of fit the theme this week.  This week it's favorite weenies and these pics were definitely enticing me and other guests forward....

During our trip, Storybook Circus was open but New Fantasyland was not.  So I took some evening shots of the NF developments with a beautiful sky as the background:

Favorite Food Friday: Food and Wine 2012 Florida Local Booth!

Welcome to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the deluxe Disney Day by Day!

Continuing on in our 2012 tour of the Food and Wine Booths, the Florida Local booth didn't necessarily intrigue me because it's not a foreign country,  but of course we had to give it a go!

First we had the White Corn Arepa with Mangalitsa Pork Rilette and Zellwood Sweet Corn Salad.  The pork stuffed arepa was pretty tasty!  I'd have it again for sure.  The corn was not really a "salad" - I don't recall there being a lot of other flavors in there.  More like, just some corn.

And guys, I LOVE ceviche.  I could eat it by the bucket.  This Florida Shrimp Ceviche with Fire Roasted Vegetables, Fried Plantains and Cilantro was only okay (I would have preferred a greater variety of fish), but okay ceviche is still ceviche!

Kill Marry Refurb: Disney Princesses

I'm joining the miraculous Mouse on the Mind and hip This Happy Place Blog for the Kill/Refurb/Marry blog hop!  This week's theme is Disney Princesses.  Just gonna say it now: I feel REALLY strongly about this one, you guys.

Kill: Okay, not going to make friends with this, but I HAAAAATTEEEE Ariel.  Like SUPER hate her.  I would gladly murder her in cold blood, in the bright light of day, with my bare hands, and
I am fairly confident I would get acquitted because she is THE WORST.  An entitled, ignorant sixteen-year old brat,  Think about who you thought you "loved" when you were 16 and tell me if you were equipped to make permanent life-altering changes at that time based on that "love".

Here is an earlier rant explaining my hatred: rant.  I won't repeat it here because I am already riled up just thinking about it.

(Let's also discuss how King Triton is the worst possible dad in Disney animated features.  No really, I am ready to convince you.  Would you send your 16 year old child to go live with a stranger on the other side of the globe because she insists that she, a teenager, "loves him"?  Because what Triton does is worse than that - he can't exactly visit her on land.)

Refurb: Can we go ahead and make Megara a princess?  I know she doesn't fit the typical Disney princess requirements, but man do I love her badass, independent woman attitude.

Marry:  I know the Disney Hipsters say that she looks busted in the parks and I don't disagree, but I LOVE Aurora so much.  She is the pink princess and you know how I feel about pink (and if you don't: I love it as much as I hate Ariel).  Plus her dress CHANGES COLOR.  What is more baller than that?

When I was little, I had a nightgown that was blue and pink and I used to dance around to Once Upon a Dream and pretend I was her.  She is the best (in the movies).

If you're smart, you will hop on to all the next stops.

Favorite Food Friday! Food and Wine 2012 - Fondue!

Welcome to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the distant Disney Day by Day!  Returning to my mother/sister Food and Wine 2012 extravaganza, you may recall my fondue-related dilemma.

Well, after checking back a few times, it was finally ready!!

To be honest, the wine flavor came in too strong for me.  I was hoping for a bit more creamy/salty flavor.  But I'm still glad I got to try it!

Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop! Vintage Photo Alert!

Welcome to this week's Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop hosted by the fierce Focused on the Magic!  I'm pausing my recap of my mother/sister October 2012 trip to bring you a vintage photo this week!

There must have been some kind of mistake in developing this shot from Hollywood Studios in 1991 because it's actually two shots in one!  You can of course see a close up of the TERRIBLE Beauty and the Beast stage show which would have been brand new when this picture was taken.  I don't even remember ever seeing it before! (What IS that weird random pink costume?)

But....if you look closely....

You can see the faint shadow of the Footlight Parade scene from the Great Movie Ride!

Fast Pass to History: Throwback Muppet Thursday!

I'm joining the fabulous Frontierland Station for a little Fastpass to History this week!  Throwback Thursday style!  My mom sent me a bunch of old pictures recently.

In honor of the Studios' 25th birthday, here is a shot of an extinct attraction from MGM: the Muppets Stage Show.  There were two incarnations of this show according to Muppet Wiki:

"In 1990, the Here Come the Muppets stage show, the first full-fledged Muppet attraction at the parks, premiered at the former Walt Disney Theater in the park's Animation Courtyard. The production featured walk-around characters playing to a vocal track recorded by the Muppet performers. A second stage show, Muppets on Location: Days of Swine and Roses, followed in 1991, and played for three years."  - http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Walt_Disney_World

I'm not sure which one this was, but I do love me some Miss Piggy!!
